The District has a 9-member Executive Committee of the Board of Directors regulates the business and affairs of the District between Board of Directors meetings. The officers are: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. The Executive Committee meets no less than three times quarterly.
The District is governed by a 33-member Board of Directors consisting of one member from each county appointed by the Governor, three state-at-large members appointed by the Governor, one member from each county appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, and one member each as appointed by the following State of Mississippi agencies: Department of Environmental Quality; Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; Forestry Commission; and, State Board of Health. The Board of Directors meets quarterly.
